House with a Voice – Q&A and Panel Discussion
we’re excited to host a Q&A and panel discussion with Kristine Nrecaj, director of House With a Voice, alongside activist Valmira Rashiti. together they will reflect on the film and the wider questions it raises.
☆ Kristine Nrecaj was born in Bavaria and has Albanian roots. after graduating from high school, she studied theater and film at the Free University of Berlin. in 2003 she made the documentary film “Kosowo”. in 2014, her fictional short film “Of Dogs and Lions” was screened at national and international film festivals. it received the award for best director and best female lead at the Kosovo Film Festival. her work includes the feature-length documentary on Burrneshas in Albania, The Sworn Virgin and the Girl (2018), and Noa, remembering against forgetting (2021), which explored the relationship between her daughter Noa and her mother living with dementia.
☆Valmira Rashiti is a feminist activist and researcher of social and gender policies. she has completed her studies at the University of Prishtina, Faculty of Law, and is currently completing her studies in Cultural Anthropology. she has worked for a long time in NGO’s that promote justice and gender equality, such as the Kosovo Women Network (KWN) and the Information Center for Criticism and Action (QIKA). she currently works as an editor at Kosovo 2.0.
