Welcome to the 2025 edition of Prishtina Queer Festival
Darling, I’m Only Dancing
The 2025 edition of Prishtina Queer Festival reflects on resilience as a radical act of refusal, survival, and regeneration. In Kosovo and beyond, queer existence remains precarious: families that reject, governments that fail, and societies that insist on straightening us into conformity. Yet queer life persists. It bends but does not break, it refuses erasure, it insists on living otherwise.
This year’s theme, Darling, I’m Only Dancing, is inspired by David Bowie’s ode to movement, play, and liberation. Dancing, for us, is more than joy; it is survival. To dance in a hostile environment is to refuse stillness, to insist on hope when despair is expected, to claim joy as a space of freedom. It is the resilience of queer people to keep moving, to keep imagining, to keep loving in spite of a world that seeks to stop us.
Alongside Bowie’s defiant spirit, we look to José Esteban Muñoz, who reminds us that queerness is also a horizon, a potentiality, a not-yet-here that fuels our persistence. If resilience is survival in the present, it is also a reaching toward futures that exceed the here and now. Queer resilience, then, is not only about enduring, but also about imagining and insisting on utopias beyond the structures that oppress us.
Through film, performance, and collective gathering, this year’s program embodies resilience as refusal, as defiance, as survival, and as the shimmering promise of queer futures yet to come.
